Dear [MP’s name],

I am writing as a constituent and supporter of Lepra, a UK-based charity working with communities affected by leprosy, lymphatic filariasis (LF) and other neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), to ask whether you would attend a parliamentary event marking World NTD Day. As my MP, I kindly request that you learn more about NTDs and how the UK government can take action.

The UK Coalition against NTDs and the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Malaria and NTDs are co-hosting a parliamentary reception, 'Leaving No One Behind: Reaching 1 billion people affected by NTDs. This event is open to all parliamentarians and will be hosted in Terrace Dining Room A, the Houses of Parliament on Wednesday 4 February 2026 from 6.45pm to 9.30pm.

World NTD Day is recognised globally each year to raise awareness of the impact of neglected tropical diseases which affect over one billion people worldwide. Leprosy and LF continue to affect millions, causing preventable disability, stigma and discrimination., These diseases disproportionately impact marginalised communities and are often overlooked in global health priorities.

Whilst progress has been made, recent reductions in global health funding risk undermining efforts to eliminate these diseases and achieve the targets set out in the World Health Organization’s NTD roadmap 2021 – 2030. Historically, the UK has played a key role in these efforts through funding, technical expertise, and global advocacy, supporting programmes that deliver treatment, prevention and community-based care.

The event aims to engage policy and decision makers through the sharing of evidence and case studies of how NTDs intersect with development priorities across mental health and stigma, disability inclusion, women's health, nutrition, WASH, and other themes—demonstrating that reaching people affected by NTDs serves as a litmus test for how equitable and effective UK aid truly is.

I hope you will be able to attend and mark World NTD Day in parliament.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,
