Running the marathon? It’s a piece of cake for Harriet

10 March 2025

23-year-old Harriet Hole, a trainee solicitor from Ipswich, is gearing up to run her very first London Marathon and has very kindly chosen to support Lepra.

“It is unfair that people with leprosy experience social stigma and discrimination as the disease is curable. I have always been passionate about human rights and wanted to help others. When I found out about Lepra I really wanted to run the marathon to challenge myself mentally and physically as well as raising funds to make a significant difference to people’s lives.”

Harriet recently ran a bake sale at her work to raise sponsorship.

“My mum and some friends baked some delicious cakes and cookies. I advertised the sale by email and posters and included a QR code for donations. I walked round each floor, I nearly sold out and raised over £450!”

As part of her training schedule, Harriet recently ran the Colchester Half Marathon.

Harriet has raised just over £1,000 for Lepra so far.
