Cyclone Montha Update

29 October 2025

Cyclone Montha is currently impacting our operational areas in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, including Krishna, NTR, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Koraput, Junagarh, and Sonepur districts.

Nineteen Andhra districts are under red alert and transport services are suspended. Our teams have reported that the communities we support are currently safe, and emergency measures are actively in place.

We are in touch with state teams and are trying to ensure there are emergency stocks of medication and essentials for people affected by leprosy and lymphatic filariasis (LF) at all our referral centres. Our teams on the ground are mobilised to reach out to people affected individually to ensure continuity of treatment. We are coordinating with district and state health authorities, particularly for people affected who have mobility challenges.

We thank our staff and volunteers who are working hard to ensure the impact of this event is minimised, and that access to vital medications and services face minimal disruption during this challenging time.
