Sukhdev's story

Photo of Sukhdev

Sukhdev Mukhiya is 60 years old and lives in the Munger district of Bihar, India. Sukhdev, who suffers from physical disabilities caused by leprosy, has been unable to earn money for basic living expenses over the last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns.

Sukhdev was vaccinated against COVID-19 by the Lepra and Effect:hope team in May 2021, of the process he said:

“I became aware of the vaccine programme by the Lepra representative in our area. I have now received both doses, and in total it took around 2-3 hours. I feel completely fine after both doses, and I no longer feel worried or scared about COVID-19. The pandemic has meant I have faced issues to meet mine and my families daily needs, as we have not been able to go anywhere to work and earn our minimum expenses. I would recommend to everyone how important it is to get vaccinated.”
