News Our appeal on BBC Radio 4 It’s time to make sure your radios are tuned in and the speakers turned up because we’ll be making an appearance on BBC Radio 4 in January. We have been selected as one of the charities for the Radio 4 Appeal. This is a weekly three minute programme that has been highlighting the work of various charities and appealing for donations since 1923. Each year, the BBC selects 52 charities, one for each week, and we’re delighted to have been selected this year. We’ve been working on something really special that we hope will help us spread the word that leprosy still exists. Helping us to do so is our ambassador Victoria Hislop. She’ll be presenting our appeal on the air and in it she’ll be talking about leprosy in India and our work visiting schools to find cases of leprosy in children. Victoria has been our ambassador since 2013 and first became involved in our work after doing research on leprosy for her best-selling novel ‘The Island.’ She was able to visit some of our projects in India and see just how the ‘forgotten disease,’ as many believe it to be, affects children, women and men. Although there’s a while to go yet, we want you to put the date in the diary to make sure you don’t miss it. For early risers you can listen in at 7:54am on Sunday 15th of January but for those who love a lie in, we’ll be on again at 9:24pm and then on Thursday 19th of January at 3:24pm. Don’t forget to tell your family, friends and co-workers!
