Health worker training in Zambia

7 June 2021

In May 2021, Lepra staff conducted a two-day webinar conference to Zambian health workers on the diagnosis and management of leprosy.

“In Zambia, we have realised that we need to build capacity of our health workers in leprosy management. As a country, we have reached the leprosy elimination point but we still do see cases and we feel we may even be missing some cases as leprosy is not seen as a major health problem.”

– Leprosy Officer, National TB and Leprosy Programme – Zambia

Over the course of the two days, 17 health workers took part in the conference, which was led by Arun Kumar, Head of Programmes, Kameshwara Rao, Senior Physio Coordinator, and supported by Santosh Kumar, Senior Physio Coordinator at Lepra.

The webinar trainings are being held regionally, and therefore we expect to deliver more over the course of this year.
