Lepra Ambassador, Stuart Paver recently returned to India to see our Shoe Van project in action. Stuart was the driving force behind and funded the first van in Bihar through his company, Pavers Shoes. The project provides, safe, custom footwear to people with disabilities caused by leprosy and lymphatic filariasis through mobile vans.
Mental health issues affect 53% of people affected by leprosy or lymphatic filariasis. Our new Mental Motivators programme is helping people in Bangladesh to cope with these issues and get the help and support they need.
Working in an environment of complete unfamiliarity has been what I can only describe as a wholesomely diverse experience. In a matter of weeks I have been fortunate to participate in a range of roles that have allowed me to refine and broaden my expertise set.
