Ann recently hosted a life-changing tea event for Lepra and raised a fantastic £600. 

We wanted to share her fantastic scone recipe which we hope you'll be able to enjoy at your life-changing tea event!


  • 12oz white self-raising flour
  • 4oz wholemeal self-raising flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3oz caster sugar
  • 2oz soft margarine
  • 10oz milk
  • 3oz sultanas and cherries
  • 2-3oz chopped walnuts


  • Preheat oven to 200 degrees Celsius
  • Use fingertips to mix together the flour, baking powder, margarine and sugar to give a fine crumble mix
  • Stir in sultanas/cherries and walnuts
  • Pour in the milk and mix with a fork, then form a dough with hands
  • Turn out onto a floured board and roll out to 1" thickness and use scone cutters of chosen size to give 12 - 15 scones
  • Bake on a lightly floured baking tray at 200 degrees for 12-14 minutes.
  • Cool on a wire tray
  • Serve with lots of jam and cream!
