Who we are News Volunteers week From the 1st to the 12th of June, we’re joining in the celebrations and honouring our fabulous volunteers. Across the UK, it’s Volunteers Week and a chance to say thank you to the 23 million people who donate their time to their communities. From the villages of India to our Colchester offices, we have some fantastic volunteers that put themselves out and continue to donate their time to help us change lives. That’s not to mention all of the fabulous fundraisers dotted around the country also working to raise money that we can use to access more children, women and men affected by disease, poverty and prejudice. 2016 has already been an incredible year for our volunteers. Kicking off January, ten top Lepra supporters took to the roads of Madhya Pradesh in India, and cycled across the state as part of a sponsored ride. Next week we’ll also see hundreds of cyclists travel across bonnie Scotland, again giving up their time and collecting sponsorship money for the 65 mile cycle. Many not on two wheels also volunteer on the day, such as the ladies at Freuchie who bake for a week prior to the event in order to feed the riders and fundraise for Lepra. Back in Colchester, we also have a few special people who visit our offices and give us a helping hand. Goedele is a university student who assists out in our communications team. You can read about her experience with us here. If you’d like to get involved and use your qualities, skills and experience to benefit people affected by disease, poverty and prejudice, then there are a few things you can do. In our office You can drop us an email to see what opportunities we have coming up in our Colchester office. These often tend to be administrative or research-based but, our team is a friendly one and we always welcome an extra set of hands.
