Female Focus: Life in the fast lane event Published 30/11/2018 On Monday 19th November, we held a joint Female Focus networking event at the Royal Overseas League in London, with the Minerva Trust. The event provided an opportunity for business women and entrepreneurs to forge new connections, while also learning about Lepra’s efforts to beat leprosy in India, Bangladesh and Mozambique. Vaishali Shah (pictured above) began the evening with an introduction on the Minerva Trust’s work to contribute to society and making a difference in the world. Jamie Chadwick, who earlier this year became the first ever woman to win a Formula 3 race, and had just finished racing in Dubai the previous day, followed afterwards with a questions and answers session, providing an insight into her pre-race rituals and motivations. Guests also had the chance to ask questions which was a great opportunity to hear more from Jamie. Questions ranged from finding out that she took her driving test with a week’s preparation to hearing her thoughts on Formula E, the electric racing series. After announcing the raffle winners, and with £195 raised to help transform the lives of people affected by leprosy, Lepra’s own Helen Rackham closed the evening raising awareness of our work, and how we have helped to change the lives of people affected by leprosy such as Maksuda. We would like to say a big thank you to all the incredible women who attended, Minerva Trust for hosting the event with us, as well as all the wonderful sponsors and raffle prize donators who helped to make it a great evening – West Street Vineyard provided sparkling wine for our guests to enjoy, Teatulia Tea Room and Cocktail Bar provided tea as well as prizes for our on the night raffle,Tiptree provided a wonderful hamper for our raffle and Grey Corporate provided a corporate package photo shoot at their Covent Garden Studio. We look forward to collaborating with the Minerva Trust again in the future.
