This week we are launching our #BeatLeprosy campaign, a drive to combat the effects of a neglected disease which affects some of the world’s poorest people and causes life changing disabilities.

We want you to join others to pledge to beat leprosy and share it on your Facebook page, Twitter or website.

Leprosy is widely forgotten or thought to be eradicated, yet nearly 216,000 people worldwide were newly diagnosed last year.

It is estimated that there are millions more who are living with leprosy but have not yet been diagnosed.

Around two million people are living with disabilities caused by this curable disease; 60 per cent of these people live in the poorest areas of Bangladesh and India where we work.

We are spearheading three steps which can make a difference now: early detection, removing the stigma surrounding the disease and dealing with the disabilities.
